"There is no other reason"
For most of us in the United States, the reason for the Christmas Holiday Season is widely known, even though there are those that are attacking the Holiday and seek to put down organized religion and Christ as Lord. Nevertheless the season is upon us that we rejoice in and hope to share with others in such a way that they too may enjoy the knowledge of, experience with and service before the Lord our King Jesus Christ.
May your home, life and working experiences this Christmas season bring joy, hope and peace to those with whom you come into contact, for you are a servant of the king of the Universe and He has given you a special message to give to others. Pray for His blessings on your efforts that others may be filled with the promise of His soon return and of the ability to receive forgiveness of their sins while there is still time to do so. Truly there is no other reason for the season! Notice the inspired writings on this subject:
The Day Not to Be Ignored.--As the twenty-fifth of December is observed to commemorate the birth of Christ, as the children have been instructed by precept and example that this was indeed a day of gladness and rejoicing, you will find it a difficult matter to pass over this period without giving it some attention. It can be made to serve a very good purpose.
The youth should be treated very carefully. They should not be left on Christmas to find their own amusement in vanity and pleasure seeking, in amusements which will be detrimental to their spirituality. Parents can control this matter by turning the minds and the offerings of their children to God and His cause and the salvation of souls.
The desire for amusement, instead of being quenched and arbitrarily ruled down, should be controlled and directed by painstaking effort upon the part of the parents. Their desire to make gifts may be turned into pure and holy channels and made to result in good to our fellow men by supplying the treasury in the great, grand work for which Christ came into our world. Self-denial and self-sacrifice marked His course of action. Let it mark ours who profess to love Jesus because in Him is centered our hope of eternal life.
The Interchange of Gifts as Tokens of Affection.-- The holiday season is fast approaching with its interchange of gifts, and old and young are intently studying what they can bestow upon their friends as a token of affectionate remembrance. It is pleasant to receive a gift, however small, from those we love. It is an assurance that we are not forgotten, and seems to bind us to them a little closer. . . .
It is right to bestow upon one another tokens of love and remembrance if we do not in this forget God, our best friend. We should make our gifts such as will prove a real benefit to the receiver. I would recommend such books as will be an aid in understanding the word of God or that will increase our love for its precepts. Provide something to be read during these long winter evenings. {AH 478.1- 479.1}

Camp Meeting Report and Plans for 2009
We are pleased to report that the 2008 camp meeting was a great success with hundreds of interests resulting from the meeting. We have over 1,900 firm addresses of people that we will mail special invitations for the 2009 camp meeting. These are the people who came to the Messiah's Mansion exhibit last year.
The plans are to follow up with more on the Sanctuary services, as there were more requests for this listed on the survey sheets from last September. Again, we wish to have an evangelistic thrust about the work that Christ is now doing in the Most Holy Place, and the closing events of world history that we see going on now. With your prayers and help this can be a great crusade for Christ. The theme is "WHERE IS JESUS?"
Last year, with Messiah's Mansion and the Camp Meeting together, we spent a total of $40,000. We will have a much smaller budget this year as we plan on using local talent. Remember Dane and Vicky Griffin? They had to cancel coming to 2008 camp meeting due to Dane's cancer. Praise God he is now well enough to present us with Sanctuary messages! AT NO CHARGE TO US!! How generous they are! Our budget this year will only be $7,500!
Would you all please ask your church to prayerfully consider what they can contribute to this year's meeting? Please let us know by the next planning meeting to be held FEBRUARY 22, 10:00 a.m. at the Wytheville church.
Yours in Christ,
2009 SW VA Camp Meeting Committee
Konnarock Christmas
It was a nice evening of singing, scripture and fellowship. Along with congregational singing, there were poems and scriptures read, solos and instrumental music provided. It was a truly spiritual start to the Christmas season.
