The Saving Place

The $aving Place: Mission beyond walls

Dear reader,

In Konnarock, neighbors have always looked out for each other. They share what they can, lift when someone stumbles, and celebrate together when hope returns. Yet the needs of our town—and of the surrounding mountain communities—remain real and urgent. Families are struggling. Jobs are scarce. Many live with daily burdens of poverty, isolation, and loss.

That’s why The Saving Place was born—a dream of the Konnarock SDA Church to step out in faith and move our mission beyond the walls of our church into every home, every road, every valley, and every heart in this region.

Loving sincerely. Sharing generously. Serving humbly.

Our community has faced tremendous challenges—flooding, loss, and unexpected hardships—but through it all, we’ve also witnessed extraordinary faith, courage, and compassion.

We believe in a vision: a place not just to shop, but a place to heal, to grow, and to help one another. The $aving Place is that vision made real.

What Is The $aving Place?

The $aving Place is more than a thrift store. It’s a ministry rooted in love and service, launched by Konnarock Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Yes, we’ll offer gently used clothing, shoes, household goods, small furniture, and appliances at affordable prices. But we also dream of seeing this ministry expand:

  • A place where adults can attend literacy or GED classes.

  • A place where families can learn about financial recovery and wise budgeting.

  • A place where neighbors can discover healthy, affordable cooking.

  • A place of support—hosting grief recovery and AA groups.

  • A place of relief—where emergency vouchers of clothing and goods are available when disaster strikes.

This is not only about meeting physical needs. It’s about restoring dignity, strengthening families, and creating a safe space for neighbors to gather.

Not only will we be able to provide savings on clothing, shoes, household items, small furniture and appliances, etc., but we plan to offer a platform to our neighbors via several possibilities that can aid them in recovering from misfortunes and improving their life situations. We can provide a platform for AA meetings, Grief Recovery meetings, Adult Literacy classes, GED programs, Diabetes Undone workshops, Healthy Cooking demonstrations/classes, Financial Recovery classes, etc. (whatever our neighbors indicate they are interested in). A form offering these opportunities will be available in The $aving Place for people to register their interests/needs. Their responses will indicate which offerings we will provide first, second, etc.

A voucher plan will be put into place whereby a person or family that has had an emergency (fire, medical emergency, etc.) can get a stated amount of goods free to aid them in their personal, immediate recovery. The $aving Place’s mission is to be of service to our dear neighbors in whatever way they indicate they might need ministering to.

Your prayers and your financial support, in the start-up of this ministry, will be a tremendous blessing to you and to our neighbors.
